Now this place was unbelievable!

Leading up to the talk I was chatting with the organiser and was looking forward to meeting him. When arriving at the College I approached front reception to ask for who I had been dealing with. I was unsure what subject he taught. I was surprised when the organiser of the event was actually a student of the school. I couldn't believe how mature, and wisely spoken, this young man was - a true testament to the school and discipline of the young man.

I was lucky enough to have my dad by my side who came along to watch me speak. He was over the moon to be given a curry chicken and rice as he sat in the audience. I've never seen him happier haha. After my dad read my book, Stabbed Ego, he was shocked at how deep I was in the crazy world I was living in. He couldn't believe it. I hope that the book made him realise how much his influence saved me.

The auditorium was packed with students and teachers. You could gear a pin drop as I spoke. Seeing the students nodding their heads as I spoke was proof that they were open to learning about the harsh effects of drugs, alcohol, and living a life of not being yourself.

For 9 years I lived an ego based life built on a fake reputation. Built on worrying what other people thought. On the outside I looked strong and confident but on the inside I was incredibly scared and depressed. Opening the student's eyes up to certain actions they may be taking because of peer pressure, is the first step towards them taking these actions. I fight to teach our youth how to be themselves. Having a slight glimpse into your true self, is the opening needed to live a full life.

"That was amazing. You made me realise a lot about my life. I wish my brother was here, he needed to see that. My brother is stuck in a life of drugs and crime, and his mates make him do stupid things. He's really a good persin but he cares what they think. I hope one day he will be able to hear your talk. Thank you." - Student, St Ignatius' College, Riverview
