It’s rare to be presenting a Keynote at a team conference over a weekend, but I’m so glad I was invited to be guest speaker at Meyer Food CO’s Strategy Day event.

Leading up to the event I spoke with Anthony Meyer about his team and also about how their family started the company and continue to run the show today. How great is it to see an Aussie family doing great things & employing a heap of locals.

The keynote speakers event was being held at ParkRoyal in Parramatta, and I arrived an hour early to chat and set up. Arriving into the ParkRoyal I was greeted by many of the staff from Meyer and felt incredibly welcome. Nothing but genuine smiles and people offering to help.

I met my good friend Anthony who was just as welcoming and then told they were running a little behind (typical with conferences).

This gave me the chance to kick back and be a part of the conference where we heard from multiple in house speakers about what was happening at the business & the growth they were experiencing. The openness of the company to their people about every aspect of the business is definitely one of the reasons they had such a solid and dedicated culture.

The talks spoke about stats, numbers, history, and they all shared some good laughs too. It was such a perfect combination to set up what I was about to dive into.

It wasn’t long until I was being introduced. My talk is excelled 10 fold when those in the audience are open and eager for some change. And this gang was just that!

Serious head nods, whispers of agreeable insight, and I was also allowed to go a bit longer than expected. We got deep into some hard hitting topics; leadership (by example), authenticity, mental health/burnout, and rewriting your story!

Afterwards there was some big applause and I also filled them in on the news that Anthony had invested in 45 books of REDEMPTION ROAD for every attendee to go home with a gift.

They were all pumped about that and then I sat down for about 20 mins signing books and getting photos. It was one of those events where you couldn’t wipe the smile from my face. Talking with each and every person as I signed their books, I was shown emotion from some, insight from others, and of course the odd cheeky remark to have a good laugh. Gotta love the cheeky ones!

Motivational Speaker, Luke, spoke to our Year 10 and 11 students, the boys were very receptive of what he recounted. If you're just looking for a motivational speaker to inspire for the day and leave it at that… I'm probably not the right fit. While I do inspire in the moment, what truly matters to me is how to harness that inspiration to drive lasting change long after the presentation is over.
