Growthpoint Conference in Sorrento: Built on Curiosity

Melbourne delivers again!

Wait… I flew into Melbourne, but the event was actually down in beautiful Sorrento. So I guess Victoria delivers again!

It was another great corporate event in Victoria and another one to add to the growing list of events I’ve spoken at as a keynote speaker across Melbourne and Victoria.

We were contacted a few months back about speaking at Growthpoint’s conference, and leading into the event the team reached out again. They’d recently updated their company values and wanted to know if I could weave them into the session in a way that felt natural, along with the conference theme, Built on Curiosity.

After checking out Growthpoint’s website and learning a little more about them, it was pretty clear we were on the same page. Growthpoint Properties is an Australian real estate investment trust and funds management business, investing across office, industrial, logistics and retail property. What stood out more to me though was how much they talked about their people, culture and continuing to improve.

Their conference theme summed that up perfectly. Built on Curiosity was all about being willing to ask better questions, challenge conventional thinking, learn from other people, explore new ideas and continuously improve. That lined up beautifully with what I already speak about!

A big part of my keynote is getting people curious about themselves. Who are we? What story are we still carrying around? What negative beliefs have we picked up over the years? How are we showing up for the people around us? Where are we leaving that extra 5 or 10 percent on the table?

That can be in our work, relationships, leadership, mental and emotional health, personal development or even our spiritual life. Asking those bigger questions and staying curious about where we’re heading is an exciting process, because once you start looking properly, there’s usually something there to work on.

That’s also why I enjoy speaking at corporate events like this across Victoria. Every company has different people, different values and different things happening behind the scenes, so the keynote has to connect with what’s actually happening in the room.

So we got right into it.

The room was awesome. Plenty of laughs, plenty of reflection, and people were willing to actually get involved rather than just sit through another conference presentation and move onto the next thing.

The feedback afterwards was immediately exceptional too, with people coming up for chats and attendees jumping online and leaving reviews.

Gotta love that!
