SPEAKERS FOR SCHOOLS TOUR NSW

Big week of having the privilege to be guest speakers as school across Sydney and then NSW central coast.

Regularly when I’m a motivational speaker in Sydney I’ll have events on the way down, or up, and speak in the central coast.

This trip ahead looked a little something like this…

Event 1

Full day & evening at St Mary’s Cathedral Catholic school online through city. This was for 2 motivational speakers for student talks, a teacher & staff PD event & then a parent/community talk.

Event 2

Two talks I was doing through the Not for Profit, Empowering Youth.

One for Youth off the Streets

One for another organisation needing some help

Event 3

Motivational speakers for schools at Tuggerah Lakes Secondary school - Entrance Campus.

Okay… let’s get going.

The drive down to Sydney was super chilled & I arrived early in the evening on the Sunday.

Monday morning I prepped for a big day and evening ahead bring guest speaker at St Mary’s.

It was two talks for the students. One talk for Yr 10 & the other for yr 11.

I met with head teacher before the day started, & without giving too much personal details away, he told me of something that happened recently at the school and informed me that some of the students may not be in my talk as a result. It’s nice to have as much info as possible before I start just so I know if there’s any topics I need to put a bigger focus on, or even some stories/topics I need to side step and not bring up. This new info made me lean towards the latter so I was already mentally adjusting my talk as I left the front office.

I was given a quick tour of the school before heading to the hall to set up for the day. Usually when I’m speaking to the whole school community - students, teachers, and parents, the talks are in different rooms. The student talks are in that hall & for a more intimate connection, the teacher and parent talks are in the library. With the school being so big though, and with a large number of teachers & parents, all of the talks were held in the school assembly hall.

That being said, when setting up, I was setting up and pitching tent for the whole day & evening.

The students were first up & as I spoke I noticed a bunch of the teachers, as well as the students, nodding their heads with some of the points I was getting at. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this in other tour blog but it’s always nice to get confirmation that points are delivering. I’m confident in what I do but it’s still a solid reflection!

Session two was the same! What a great bunch of young men. The staff and community are doing a great job with those fellas.

Now it was time to speak with the staff of the school. Being in the hall and having the teachers forward wide can be a little tough to see if things are going strong in terms of connection, delivery, and content. After the talk, I was approached by a heap of the teachers asking questions and sharing their own stuff - must’ve went well ;)

I had a short rest over in Hyde Park before the parent event. Being in Hyde Park was a trip. It was a place I spent many years as a teen and early 20’s drinking, taking drugs, fighting, and just carrying on. What a lost young boy I was… now, all these years later, I’m speaking across this beautiful country of ours as one of Australia’s most requested motivational speakers. I recorded a little reel on my Insta about this if you’d like to check it HEREEE

The parent sessions are always a special event and having the opportunity to connect with the whole school community is always the best bang for the schools buck. What better way to produce the strongest and lasting impact than to speak to every level. Blessed :-)

Day 2

Now… this was probably the most heart felt & precious days I’ve had being a motivational speaker.

Being in the position I am, it’s allowed me to do a heap of cool things. One of the greatest is offering my talks & workshops for free to those youth groups and organisations that may not have funding. I’ve missed out on things in my life due to not having cash so I don’t like it when others miss out due to the same.

Speaking at these two events on the same day, through the Not for Profit, Empowering Youth, is a day I’ll never forget.

Without going into too much detail for respect of privacy of those kids and organisations, let’s just say the two talks couldn’t have went any better! I saw immediate changes in attitude and actions & have already planned for other events with the same groups. Best!!!

Day 3 is where I was motivational speaker for schools at the entrance. I speak here every year to the new Yr 11’s for their Life Ready program.

Before the day kicked off I had a deep chat with one of the teachers and it was very refreshing to have some real talk with someone diving deep.

Both talks went great and it wasn’t long before I was in my car and heading back up the coast.

What a visit!!!

ABOUT

LUKE KENNEDY

In my years of experience, one thing has become clear: I know people. I understand what works-and a lot of what doesn't. Genuine connection is the cornerstone of progress and impact. My ability to connect deeply with people is what makes my talks and workshops leave a strong and lasting impression. If you're just looking for a motivational speaker to inspire for the day and leave it at that… I'm probably not the right fit. While I do inspire in the moment, what truly matters to me is how to harness that inspiration to drive lasting change long after the presentation is over.
